Hello Indonesia! Twitter Officially Opens Its Jakarta Office

TECHINASIA: It’s official: Twitter has arrived in Jakarta and opened an office space in the 15th floor of the One Pacific Place office building, SCBD, Jakarta. In November 2014 at our Tech in Asia Jakarta 2014 conference, Rick Mulia, head of business development for Twitter in Indonesia, announced that Twitter would open a local office by early 2015. It seems today he’s made good on that promise.Unsurprisingly, the news first broke via Twitter when the official account of Twitter Indonesia, @TwitterID, sent out its first tweet to the world, Indonesia-style.

The opening was confirmed with a photo of the space from the Twitter account @justmaul which belongs to Maulana Nurhadi. Nurhadi is Twitter’s campaign manager for Southeast Asia.

With this move, Twitter has become the second social media network giant after Facebook to set up shop in Indonesia. Facebook opened an office in Jakarta in March last year.

Beyond that, the private social network Path is also due to open an office in Indonesia soon, having appointed William Tunggaldjaja as country manager.
