Singapore Uni to offer digital transformation module in partnership with Standard Chartered

National University of Singapore (NUS) School of Computing and Standard Chartered Bank have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the co-development and co-delivery of a module on digital transformation.
This partnership is part of NUS Computing’s ongoing efforts to ensure that its curriculum corresponds with current industry demands, through consultation and collaboration with leading business organisations.
With effect from Semester 1 of Academic Year 2017/2018, which begins in August 2017, Adjunct Professor Foong Sew Bun, who is Standard Chartered’s Global Head, Digital Transformation (Retail, Private Banking and Wealth) and also from the Department of Information Systems at NUS Computing, will be co-delivering the IS4301 Agile IT with DevOps module with faculty members from the Department.
Associate Professor Tan Chuan Hoo, Deputy Head (Programmes) at the Department, believes that this collaboration between NUS Computing and Standard Chartered will train IT professionals to facilitate companies’ digital transformation. He said, “Companies are facing the need to transform their IT services and systems to meet the needs of the future economy. It is important that we update our curriculum to support these needs – in this case, we are focusing on developing digital transformation skills.”
Associate Professor Tan elaborated, “Standard Chartered is a leading international bank in digitisation. In addition, our aspirations to address the digital transformation gap in the local community are aligned. Most importantly, we are very happy to be working with Adjunct Professor Foong. He is exceptionally knowledgeable and keen to ensure that our Information Systems graduates are attuned to industry needs.”
