Alpaca Closes $1.75M in Funding

Alpaca, a San Mateo, CA-based fintech startup building AI and database technology for financial trading, closed $1.75m in venture funding.
Backers included:
– D4V, a joint-venture fund by IDEO and Genuine Startups,
– Monex Ventures of Monex Group, the parent company of TradeStation,
– MUCAP of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group,
– Eric Di Benedetto, an AI and Fintech angel investor, and
– others.
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate the development of its platform.
Led by Yoshi Yokokawa, co-founder and CEO, Alpaca provides AlpacaAlgo, a SaaS platform that enables traders to discover and automate trade ideas with deep-learning, now having more than 25,000 user-built trading algorithms.
The platform executed $100 million in real-money trading volume in less than 2 months of live production in last December.
The company is now accepting registration for early access to its mobile service, AlpacaScan mobile, which is scheduled to be available to the public as a beta by this spring.
