Square’s Apple Pay Reader Is Going on Sale at Apple Stores

SQUARE IS NAMED after its credit card reader, which lets merchants accept payments through an iPhone. But in the fall, the company took a new turn, offering a device that also accepts payments made from an iPhone. And now, this device is going on sale at Apple stores.

Deals: Swatch partners with Visa to bring NFC payments to its analog smartwatch

Apple Pay Vs Samsung Pay

TechCrunch: Samsung has begun rolling out its answer to Apple Pay in Korea this week. The service is called Samsung Pay and it is powered by LoopPay, the Boston-based company that Samsung snapped up earlier this year. It’s due to launch in Korea and the U.S. first before expanding worldwide, but Samsung has nudged it into action with a pre-launch pilot program among Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge owners in its home country. Singapore’s fin-tech startup Toast raising US$750K seed

E27CO: Singapore-based fin-tech startup Toast is raising a US$750,000 seed round, with half the funds already committed, e27 has learned. The Startupbootcamp (Fintech Singapore) incubated startup founded by British entrepreneur Aaron Siwoku, which just relaunched following a rebranding from Cryptosigma last week, has already received S$24,500 (US$18,000) in return for an eight per cent equity stake from the accelerator.

Google Takes Another Shot At Mobile Payments With Android Pay

TECHCRUNCH:  At its I/O developer conference today, Google announced Android Pay, a new payments solution native to its mobile operating system. In addition to making it easier to pay at a merchant’s point of sale via NFC, the new system lets merchants integrate payments directly into their apps for selling physical goods and services using an Android Pay API rather than integrating a third-party provider like Venmo or PayPal. Apple Pay Now Accepted In Nearly 700K Locations

TECHCRUNCH: Apple CEO Tim Cook offered a quick update this morning on the rapid growth of Apple Pay. Apparently the company’s mobile payment technology is now supported by 2,500 card-issuing banks (up from only six when the product was announced in September), while the number of locations accepting Apple Pay has tripled to nearly 700,000.
