US mobile bank Chime raises $200 million, valuing its business at $1.5 billion

San Francisco-based mobile banking startup Chime announced it has raised an additional $200 million in Series D financing led by DST Global, valuing its business at $1.5 billion. The oversubscribed round also included participation from new investors Coatue, General Atlantic, ICONIQ Capital and Dragoneer Investment Group, along with existing investors Menlo Ventures, Forerunner Ventures, Cathay Innovation and others.

To date, Chime has raised approximately $300 million, including last year’s $70 million Series C, which then saw the company valued at $500 million.

With the new funding, Chime has now raised the most funding and has the highest valuation among other U.S. challenger banks.

P2P Lending Site Funding Circle Raises $150M Led By DST At A $1B+ Valuation

TECHCRUNCH: Time to make way for another startup juggernaut out of the financial world. Funding Circle — a London-based peer-to-peer platform for small businesses to get loans, and investors to put up money to finance those loans — is today announcing that it has raised $150 million in venture funding, in a round that we have confirmed values the startup at over $1 billion. While partial news of the financing leaked out earlier this month, now we have the full details. Yuri Milner’s DST Global Invests Over $200 Million In Ola Cabs.

TOFLER: For the past few weeks, speculation has been rife that Russian Venture Capitalist Yuri Milner’s DST Global was set to invest $500 million in online cab aggregator Ola Cabs. The wait is now over. The latest funding round closed last week when ANI Technologies Private Limited, the owner of Ola Cabs, issued Series G of Preference Shares to various funds within the DST Global umbrella and to some of its existing investors. The company’s filings obtained from the Registrar of Companies reveals the list of investors and the money each has invested in these preference shares. (more…)
