Square’s Apple Pay Reader Is Going on Sale at Apple Stores

SQUARE IS NAMED after its credit card reader, which lets merchants accept payments through an iPhone. But in the fall, the company took a new turn, offering a device that also accepts payments made from an iPhone. And now, this device is going on sale at Apple stores.

Apple Pay Vs Samsung Pay

TechCrunch: Samsung has begun rolling out its answer to Apple Pay in Korea this week. The service is called Samsung Pay and it is powered by LoopPay, the Boston-based company that Samsung snapped up earlier this year. It’s due to launch in Korea and the U.S. first before expanding worldwide, but Samsung has nudged it into action with a pre-launch pilot program among Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge owners in its home country. Apple Pay Coming to Best Buy Stores as Retailer Breaks Ranks From Walmart-Led Rival

RE/CODE: Best Buy is the first big-name U.S. retailer to break ranks with a Walmart-led Apple Pay competitor, announcing today that it will accept Apple’s digital payment system in its U.S. stores later this year. Best Buy has also started accepting Apple Pay as a payment method in its apps, Apple CEO Tim Cook first announced on an analysts call on Monday after the company issued its earnings report. Apple Pay Now Accepted In Nearly 700K Locations

TECHCRUNCH: Apple CEO Tim Cook offered a quick update this morning on the rapid growth of Apple Pay. Apparently the company’s mobile payment technology is now supported by 2,500 card-issuing banks (up from only six when the product was announced in September), while the number of locations accepting Apple Pay has tripled to nearly 700,000.
