Starling Bank calls time on contactless payments

Starling Bank has added a range of Garmin smartwatches to its growing roster of contactless payment devices.

Customers of the app-only bank can add their Mastercard debit card to Garmin’s Vívoactive 3 and Forerunner 645 Music, enabling them to make payments on the go directly from their wrist.

To unlock the cards on the watch, user must first verify by inputting a four-digit code. The smart timepiece will then be unlocked for 24 hours or until it is taken off the wrist.

Julian Sawyer, chief operating officer at Starling Bank, says: “Garmin Pay provides another way for our customers to make fast, straightforward and secure payments on the move.”

Starling now claims to be the only bank in the market to offer Apple, Samsung, Google, Fitbit and Garmin pay.
