First issuer-processor to offer developers direct access to payment card platform

LAS VEGAS (October 20, 2016) – Marqeta, the open API issuer processor platform, today announced that developers can now get Marqeta API sandbox access directly within the API docs or as a standalone API Explorer.

Developers will be able to register then instantly receive access to Marqeta’s industry leading tools for building new payment technologies.

During Money 20/20 in 2014, Marqeta was the first company to offer an Open API for payment card issuance. Since then, developers have been able to access the complete Marqeta platform to set up physical and virtual cards, set rules and test payment transactions in a controlled sandbox. With today’s news, Marqeta ups the bar by delivering real-time access and openness to the payments developer community.

“Instant access to the sandbox marks another key step in our ongoing mission here at Marqeta to be the easiest to integrate with in the payment card issuing space,” said Marqeta Senior Director of Product Management Dave White.

Marqeta is launching the feature in time for Money 20/20, the industry’s leading payments conference. Teams participating in this year’s Money20/20 Hackathon can use Marqeta’s tools as part of an entry that can win up to $125,000 in prizes.

Developers can access the Marqeta API by going to www.marqeta.com and clicking “Sign Up” or at the following URLs:
