Barclays signs contracts with six accelerator graduates

Barclays Bank has signed contracts with six fintech startups participating in its accelerator programme in New York.

The deeper engagement with Barclays comes as the ten graduates from the bank’s second New York class present at a demo day to an audience of 500 banking executives and corporate partners. The 10 teams to emerge from the 13-week programme, run in association with Techstars, were selected from a pool of nearly 800 applicants.

Michael Harte, group head of innovation, Barclays, says: “Our partnership with Techstars uniquely enables our network and partners to foster entrepreneurship inside and outside Barclays, and across our customers and clients. Our programme together opens doors to mentorship and business development, and enables us to all learn, grow and create value together.”

Among the companies selected to continue their work with Barclays are capital market research platform Alpha Exchange, data visualistion outfit Windrush and AI-based online marketing firm AcuteIQ.

Previous New York graduates who continue to collaborate with Barclays include blockchain startups Wave and Chainalyis and digital corporate onboarding platform LiveOak.

This second New York class of the Barclays Accelerator follows six previous programmes in London, New York, Cape Town and Tel Aviv.
